What is it?
AddFiles was designed to be used in concert with RoboComm 4.0 - which now
has Wildcat! 3.0 support built in - to allow the Wildcat! Sysop to add any
files he downloads with RoboComm to his files database automatically in your
Robocomm batch file.
Operation
The first thing you have to do is create a configuration file. Just run
AddFiles with no parameters to access the configuration screen. Answer the
questions and press Ctrl-Enter to save the new file.
Configuration File - The configuration file to save these settings in.
File Area Number - Wildcat! file area number to add files to.
File Area Path - Path to Wildcat! area specified above.
Add Missing Files - Y or N, add files that are not found in the directory.
Uploader Name - Defaults to SYSOP.
Name of file list - Complete path and filename of the file list Robocomm
creates. See RoboComm setup instructions.
The text file that AddFiles will read to get the file names and descriptions
is simply that - a text file with file names and description. No other
information is needed, required or wanted. All blank lines should be
removed, any lines that are not file names to be added should be removed.
Robocomm will create a correctly formatted file so you only have to be
concerned if you create one on your own.
Next add a line in your RoboComm batch file after RoboComm finishes with an
agenda to run AddFiles with the previously saved configuration file as the
only parameter. Then any time you download files with Robocomm in a nightly
event Robocomm will create a files.bbs (or some other valid DOS filename)
file where you tell it to in your Robocomm configuration screen (I have mine
set for my uploads directory). AddFiles will automatically add the files to
your Wildcat! files database and they will be waiting for you to move to the
proper directory in the morning.
RoboComm Setup
After you start RoboComm, go to the configuration menu (Alt-C) and press "D"
for Data and logs. Go to the option for "File download path" and enter the
path to your Wildcat! uploads directory. Now go to the bottom of this same
screen and enter a file name (the same one you will enter in your AddFiles
configuration screen) for RoboComm to create when you download any files.
Press <escape> to save the new configuration option and you are all set.
Addfiles - Add files to your Wildcat! files database in a nightly event.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Example batch file
cd\robo
robocomm /AMAILRUN ;refer to robocomm docs
cd\wc30 ;addfiles must run from here
if exist c:\robo\files.bbs goto addfiles ;verify there are new files
goto nofiles ;skip addfiles if no downloads
:addfiles
addfiles addfiles.cfg ;run addfiles
erase c:\robo\files.bbs ;erase files.bbs to start fresh
:nofiles ;exit or perform other duties
Program requirements
Although the program will run without utilizing RoboComm to create a file
list you will get the most benefit from it by setting up a batch file
similar to the one above. To use AddFiles this way you will need RoboComm
version 4.0 (available on The Boardwalk!). Earlier versions of RoboComm do
not support Wildcat! 3.0 and will not create an AddFiles readable file.
You must be running Wildcat! 3.0.
AddFiles must run from your Wildcat! home directory.
AddFiles requires the environment variable WCNODEID if you are not running
the single line version of Wildcat! 3.0

Acknowledgements
AddFiles was written in Turbo Pascal v6.0 from Borland International with
additional help from Turbo Power Software in Colorado Springs, CO in the use
of their outstanding Btree Filer and Object Professional libraries for Turbo
Pascal. And of course, none of this would have been possible (or necessary)
without Mustang Software and their excellent bulletin board program -
Wildcat!. Thank you!
I would also like to acknowledge Dan Parsons, the author of RoboComm for
creating a great communications tool and giving me a reason to write this
program in the first place.
